Specification and application

Two-phase duplex steel with a ferritic-austenitic structure resistant to high temperatures, operating in acids and salts NaCl, CaCl2, LiCl2, increased chromium - Cr, Molybdenum - Mo, and Nitrogen - N content, occurring in the supersaturated state at temperatures of 1020 - 1100 ℃ in the form of bars, pipes, sheets and forgings.

Duplex steel is characterized by high intercrystalline corrosion resistance, stress corrosion resistance, pitting corrosion resistance, low coefficient of thermal expansion and work temperature up to 200-250 ℃. Compared to ordinary austenitic acid resistant steels, it exhibits much better strength properties and higher wear resistance and erosion resistance.

The above duplex grade depending on the requirements and working environment is used, inter alia, in the chemical, shipbuilding, aviation, cryogenic, paper, mining, petrochemical and power industries.

From this material are made parts and subassemblies such as pumps, coolers, aircraft, bolts, bushes, shafts, valves, tanks and containers for transporting chemical substances on chemical tankers, desalination plant pipes, stirrers, swing arms, off-shore installations, pressure tanks, rotors and fans, petrochemical and processing plants containing chlorides, press rollers, machine parts and equipment used in the papermaking industry.

 

1.4462 steel exhibits resistance to stress corrosion and cracks in corrosive media such as:

  • Calcium chloride -CaCl2 at a concentration of 40% at 100 ℃
  • Lithium chloride - LiCl2 at a concentration of 33% at 120 ℃
  • Sodium chloride - NaCl at a concentration of 25-28% at 155 °C
