Applications and specifications

Duplex 1.4362 is another variant of biphasic austenitic-ferritic grades with high mechanical properties and increased corrosion resistance, especially intergranular after welding and in delivery condition.

Grades are used in the paper, petrochemical and fuel industries, chemical, shipbuilding, nitrogen, aerospace, construction, heat and power generation and cryogenic industries. Enhanced Duplex (abbreviated to EDX 2304™) is a "reinforced" variety of 1.4362 grade with a slightly higher content of chromium, molybdenum, carbon and proportionally lower content of nickel than the standard S32304 made on special request.

The steel supplied most often in the form of bars, plates and pipes is used in the manufacture of tanks for chemical compounds, responsible screws, sleeves, valves, shafts, stirrers, desalination systems, flanges, pumps, pipelines as well as radiators and for the construction of aircraft structures.

Duplex 1.4362 / X2CrNiN23-4 has a high resistance to acid environments and stress corrosion. It is a great, much better alternative to austenitic 316L / 1.4404 stainless steel and can also be used interchangeably with 1.4460 / X3CrNiMoN27-5-2.
