15H11MF, 15H12WMF, 15Ch11MF, 15Ch12VNMF - description

Chromium-Molybdenum-Tungsten-Vanadium (-Tungsten, in case of 15Ch12VNMF) heat-resistant steel used in the power industry. Applied mainly for blades of steam turbines, valve spindles and other components operating in high temperature (up to 600°C), fasteners for example. It has great vibration damping capacity.

The steel is hard to weld. Welding of Chromium-Molybdenum-Vanadium steel should not take place at a temperature lower than 10°C. Proper preparation of the surface and preheating is required before welding. The recommended preheating temperature is about 250-300°C. Don't heat faster than 30-50°C per hour. The entire welding area must be thoroughly heated. Cover the joint with asbestos after the process to slower cooling.
