X15CrNiSi25-21, 1.4841, AISI 314, AISI 310 - specification and application

High-alloy chromium-nickel-silicon steel with austenitic structure, heat-resistant up to 1150 ℃ (in practice up to 1100 ℃), creep-resistant up to 690 ℃, used for heavily loaded parts of equipment that require resistance to oxidation and numerous loads at high temperatures.

H25N20S2 steel is the right choice for components operating in a gas environment containing Nitrogen and Oxygen. Unfortunately, the grade does not show the same properties in contact with Sulfur compounds. At high concentrations, its heat resistance drops to approx. 900 ℃. Lower temperatures also apply to work in reducing gases environment, or in the case of sediments.

The related and at the same time with similar chemical composition species with lower resistance to oxidation is the grade H20N12S2, 1.4828, AISI 309, X15CrNiSi20-12 - heat resistant steel up to approx. 950-1000 ℃.

The chip and plastic processing of the above-mentioned grades is somewhat difficult due to the high ductility. The properties of durability at high temperatures give way to H18N10MT steels, which unfortunately do not show comparable resistance to oxidation.

Material H25N20S2 and the equivalent of X15CrNiSi25-21 / 1.4841 is used in the manufacture of parts for devices for pyrolysis of gases, methane conversions, transporters in furnaces, as well as in the production of porcelain baskets, the ends of pipes for blowing glass, hydrogenation, and parts exposed to high loads at work in high temperatures like hooks, conveyors in the glass, metallurgical or chemical industry - petrochemical.

The steel can be arc welded, gas-welded or welded with resistance welding using ES-24-18, or Sp12. wire.
