1.2379, X153CrMoV12, AISI D2 - specification and description

Alloyed cold working tool steel with high carbide formers content. It is characterized by high resistance to abrasive wear, greater ductility, extremely low tendency to deformation and hardening cracks, very high hardenability, as well as significant dimensional stability during hardening. In addition, it shows the durability of the blade, even as a result of overheating of the tool during intensive use, thanks to its high chromium content, which contributes to the reduction of thermal conductivity. The AISI D3 / X210Cr12 / 1.2080 version of the grade is enriched with Molybdenum and Vanadium.

Steel is ideally suited for the manufacture of tools that require high abrasion resistance and shape stability during hardening. It is used for making punches, cutters, draughts, anvils for forging scythes, tools for cutting horns, marble, milling cutters, retractors, rollers, jaws for cold rolling of threads, knives for the production of nails, cutting boards for blanking dies of various shapes, tools for cutting paper and plastics, cold working dies, deburring machines, drawing dies, and gauges.
