X8CrNi25-21, 1.4845, AISI 310S - specification and application

Creep-resistant and heat-resistant H23N18 steel is a chromium-nickel austenitic grade with an increased nickel content compared to H23N13, showing high strength, ductility, resistance in air and oxidizing atmosphere to high temperatures up to 1050 ℃. The steel is used for mechanically loaded parts that work at high temperatures.

For H23N18 not every work environment is right. Steel in contact with reducing gases, and containing sulfur compounds in higher concentrations, endures temperatures up to 900 ℃. With small impurities it can work up to 1000 ℃. It is used for parts of the furnace, installations, hooks, stands, trolleys, responsible screws, furnace casings, etc.

Classification of the grade as heat-resistant does not limit the use of forged and rolled products only to work at high temperatures. Many users purchase H23N18, heat-resistant materials, because they are ideal as acid-resistant steel. It is used for parts of furnaces, crucibles, parts of chemical apparatus for gas pyrolysis, hydrogenation or methane convergence. Heat resistance and acid resistance in many cases are used when the components work together.

Products made of H23N18 are usually arc welded using ES-24-18 electrodes. Bending of hot elements from sheets should be carried out at a temperature of 900 - 950 ℃

Heat treatment processes:

  • Supersaturation at 1100 - 1150 ℃ in water
  • Rolling and forging at a temperature of 1150 - 950 ℃
